Quick Start Guides

There's a lot of documentation to read or watch to fully learn how to use Herdly. Many things can be done in Herdly using a similar pattern. In this topic we briefly outline the steps for a few common tasks to give you a flavor of how to do things. Hopefully this will help you get started a bit quicker! Links with details for each step are included.

Get an Existing Animal Into Herdly

  1. Use the New Animal action.
  2. Optionally, use the Edit Animal action on the newly created animal to add additional information.
  3. Optionally, use the New Attributes action on the newly created animal to add even more information.

Purchase an Animal

  1. Use the New Animal action.
  2. Optionally, use the Edit Animal action on the newly created animal to add additional information.

Record a New Calf

  1. Select the dam in the animal list.
  2. Use the New Calf action.

Sell an Animal

  1. Select the animals you want to sell in the animal list. It is usually easier to first use a filter.
  2. Use the Remove From Herd action.

Record a Death

  1. Select the animal that died in the animal list.
  2. Use the Record Death action.

Preg Check

  1. Select the cow in the animal list.
  2. Use the New Preg Check action.

Submit CCIA Events

  1. Assume some CCIA events have automatically been created (you can also manually create them using the New CCIA Event action)
  2. Open the CCIA Events window, select the events you want to submit and click the Submit To CCIA button.
